Decomposed Granite

Writer's picture: Jordi VivesJordi Vives

Abbreviated as "D.G." if formed from broken down granite rock. It is a common material used for residential and commercial projects. For high traffic areas such as patios, walkways, paths and driveways it is highly recommended to add a soil stabilizer so the cement particles stay together.

Decomposed Granite applications

The DG is a groundcover that can be used for planting areas, pathways, around sitting areas, fire pits, and gardening in general.

Price

Regular D.G. can be installed for around $2 per square foot and $3,5 for Stabilized D.G. for front yards and easy access areas. For back yards, slopes and other difficult access areas the price can go up a little bit.
